First South African Companies

During the  Bedrijven Kontakt Dagen (BKD) in Maastricht on 13 en 14 October 2009 the first South African companies where guest in the Limburg regio on request of OAVM.

Many contacts

Many companies from the 'Euregio' where interested in what the present South African companies had to offer and where informed by them and OAVM about doing business in South Africa. Lawrence Gumede (left) and Sinikiwe Zondi (right) of Gagashe Forwarding and Shipping from Johannesburg where pleasantly surprised about the possibilities for their companies. The 'Limburg' region is a strategic important part of the 'Euregio' and is looking for new opportunites for the businesses in this most South part of the Netherlands. Also the municipalities of the city of Maastricht where very interested in this new opportunity.

Beginning

The visit of these companies of South Africa is according to  Marc Habets of OAVM only the beginning of a structural cooperation between companies of the South of the Netherlands and SOuth Africa. The cooperation is the next step of the 'South meets South' initiative OAVM launched last year also in Maastricht. Next year a bigger delegation will be present during the exhibtion of the BKD days in Maastricht. In the meantime contacts made on the days in October should be worked out and a more structural network should be founded.  Feedback of the visit of Gagashe Forwarding & Shipping shall be published in the magazine export & import South Africa. In the edition of September 2009 you will find a story about Marc Habets, the founder of OAVM.
