It was nice networking at 'Tjing Tjing' on 22 January in Amsterdam

After picking out a suitable date, which was quite difficult because the busy agenda's, on Friday 22 January 2010 the first network event of the Linkedin Group 'ondernemen in Zuid-Afrika' was held. Venue was the South African restaurant 'Tjing Tjing' in Amsterdam.

Wine and food

The guests where welcomed at the bar at Tjing Tjing by some great South African wines from the Groenland winery (white Sauvignon Blanc), Ridgeback (red Journey) and Sylvanvale (rosé). The wines where sponsored by BestWineOnline. At 6.30 p.m. chef cook Michael Rickets asked all guests to be seated and take their wines wines time to enjoy his Ostrich steak and Springbok or the delicious Boboti he prepared.

Experiences

Every present Linkedin member was eager to share his or her  South African experiences with the fellow Group members. The guests where comfortable talking about South Africa with people who actually can share the thoughts because they have been in the same places or provided tips for the next visit. Business ideas and business cards change owners.

During the conversations the guests enjoyed the food and the wine. Also the desserts like chili chocolate cake and milk tert where very much appreciated.

Several events

OAVM will organize every 3 months at least one event in the Netherlands depending on the wishes of the Linkedin members. The intention is that starting February 2010 the events will be started in Cape Town as well. In March 2010 the first event in Johannesburg is to be expected. The events depend on the numbers of members participating at the linkedin Group in the different areas.

Every year one big event will be organized in the where all Linkedin members from 'ondernemen in Zuid-Afrika' will be invited. For now the plan is that the first big event will be organized in Maastricht in the Netherlands in October. But there are also plans to organize a big event in Cape Town in September depending. Bigger events will be held as a part of an incoming or outgoing mission.
