Groenland, SylvanVale and Ridgeback wines
OAVM, business facilitator and importer, at this moment, imports several wines from three wineries in South Africa to the Netherlands; from Stellenbosch, Groenland and SylvanVale, and Ridgeback from Paarl. The Groenland selection were a welcomed success during 'South meets South" in Maastricht in October 2007, since wine tasting the audience has grown for their excellent rewarded wines. During this exhibition another great winery SylvanVale was presented to the Dutch market.
The wine tasting at the exhibition Let's meet Africa was a big success
OAVM Organisation & Consultancy and their South African business partner Strategic Global Networks introduced the wines form Groenland and Sylvanvale from Stellenbosch for the first time to a more diverse audience at the exhibition. OAVM is the official importer of these award winning wines. Thanks to Piet Steenkamp and his father Kosi Steenkamp, Groenland managed to create a new level and diversity in making wines at the winery. Click here for Groenland.

Sylvanvale and Devon Valley Hotel
SylvanVale is the name given to the Vineyards surrounding the historic Devon Valley Hotel. Built in 1947, the hotel is a well-known Stellenbosch landmark and generations of Stellenbosch residents have fond memories of enjoying a drink or a meal while sitting on the hotel patio overlooking the vineyards. It is these vineyards which now produce the SylvanVale wines for the Louis Family.
Grapes have been grown on the property since the 1960s. Today, SylvanVale offers some of the finest quality vineyards in the valley. The south-east facing slopes, with their rich red soils and cool Atlantic Breeze, produce superb Pinotage, Cabernet and Chenin Blanc cultivars.
Viticulturist Lorna Hughes, who has been instrumental in the renaissance of the property, implements a programme of total quality management, with rigorous bunch selection throughout the year. This results in intensely flavoured and ultra ripe fruit, the basis of SylvanVale's big, bold wines.
From the 2003 harvest, the production of SylvanVale wines moved from Martin Meinert's Devoncrest cellar to the new cellar at Monterosso, with Mark Carmichael-Green, now filling the position as winemaker.
SylvanVale produces a range of handmade 'boutique' wines including the superb full-bodied Pinotage Reserve, matured in new French oak, a crisp and fruity dry Rosé made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon and the rich but dry Chenin Blanc.
SylvanVale has made innovative 'Vine-Dried' wines from the Chenin Blanc cultivar, which comprises specially selected bunches that were naturally dried on the vines. This is a highly labour intensive process, with each bunch needing repeated individual attention after the stems are snapped to facilitate the drying process.
It is now called the Jewel of the Valley, a wonderfully sweet wine with billowing pear and honey aromas, but with a counterbalancing acidity.
Ridgeback wines
The Rhodesian Ridgeback, originating from Southern Africa, is believed to have evolved from the hunting dogs of the indigenous nomadic tribes. The Ridgeback's pedigree, character and stature are reflected in our full bodied red wine which will continue to mature if carefully cellared for up to 10 years.

Ridgeback Wines is situated in Noord Agter Paarl surrounded by the rugged magnificence of the Paarl Mountains. The farm extends over an area of 65 hectares. Every effort has been made to retain the rich heritage of the countryside maintaining the Proteas and fynbos which flourish in the region. The vineyards are amongst the finest in the Cape where every effort is made to enhance the quality of the grape. The winery, overlooking a small dam, has an abundance of water fowl which blend into the countryside and creates a restful ambience.
